Weather Update: Cold Wave Over Northwest & Central India To Abate From January 29, Says IMD

Weather Update: There is very likely going to be rainfall from February 2 in the Northeastern states of India.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), in a press release, said that the Cold Wave and Cold Day conditions over Northwest and Central India are likely to abate gradually from tomorrow, January 29. It also read that a Wet Spell over Northwest, East & Northeast India is expected during February 2-4.

The IMD observed that chilly conditions prevailed in many parts over East & adjoining West Uttar Pradesh. Also, cold day conditions in most parts with Severe Cold Days in isolated pockets over Madhya Pradesh and in some parts over Bihar and Vidarbha; in
isolated pockets over East Rajasthan.

There wasn't a significant drop or rise in the minimum temperature. "Northwest & Central India during next 24 hours and gradual rise by 4-6°C thereafter," said IMD.

Cold wave conditions in isolated pockets are very likely to abate from Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan during the next 24 hours.

The IMD also observed that Dense Fog conditions will be seen in isolated pockets in night/morning hours very likely over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland during the next 48 hours.

Rainfall Expected 

IMD said that there will be light/moderate rainfall very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland Manipur, Mizoram-Tripura on 31st January and 01st February, 2022.

Isolated thunderstorms/lightning is also very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura during the next 24 hours are also expected. 

Isolated light rainfall very likely over Tamilnadu-Puducherry-Karaikal and Kerala during the next 4 days.
