New Delhi: The cold wave in Delhi and NCR has intensified and the weather department has issued an orange alert in Delhi for today and a yellow alert for Monday. The weather forecast predicts the weather to be cold for the next two days.
Meanwhile, Saturday was the coldest day of the season. There was no sign of the sun coming up the whole day and the city was covered with a layer of fog and clouds. By the end of the day, the cold breeze made it even colder.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the western disturbances can lead to light rain in Delhi-NCR on January 21. After that, the cold wave is expected to subside a little with a rise in temperature.
The minimum temperature on Saturday was 6.1 degrees Celsius, 1 degree lower than the normal temperature. And the maximum temperature was 14.8 degrees Celsius, 5 degrees less than normal. On Friday as well, the maximum temperature was 5 degrees less than the normal temperature. Due to fog, the visibility had reduced to 100 meters.
Cold Day In Delhi
The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 14 degrees Celsius and the minimum of the same will be 6 degrees celsius. Whenever the maximum temperature is 4 degrees lower than normal, it is declared as a cold day. This means Delhi is expected to see cold temperatures today as well.
On the other hand, Noida is expected to have a maximum temperature of 20.8 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature of 11.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Gurugram is predicted to be 17 degrees Celsius, and the minimum of that to be 8 degrees celsius. Gurugram may have fog in the morning and clouds throughout the day.
Air Quality Deteriorates In Delhi-NCR
According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research, the air quality in Delhi is in the ‘very poor’ category with an AQI of 324. Meanwhile, the AQI in Noida is 308 and Gurugram is 285.
