Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha flagged off the first Vistadome coach train to Banihal from Srinagar Station on Thursday. The Vistadome coaches are already attached to several trains across the country in different states, including Maharashtra, Goa, Assam, and Gujarat. On the same day, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off two new trains and announced the extension of an additional two trains to remote parts of the North East.
The Vistadome coaches have huge windows and transparent roofs, which allow a hindrance-free view of the surroundings. These coaches offer passengers a panoramic view of nature, which gives them an immersive travel experience. The Vistadome coaches carry attractions like LED lights, rotatable seats, pushback chairs, and electrically operated automatic sliding compartment doors. One of the biggest attractions of these coaches is the viewing gallery, which has big glass windows on three sides, according to railway officials, and passengers love to capture photos.
Vistadome is an ultra-modern coach that allows passengers to witness breathtaking glimpses of mountains and greenery. The coaches have a seating capacity of 44, and they are equipped with Wi-Fi, GPS, and infotainment systems, which give passengers an experience full of luxury.
The other special features of Vistadome coaches are: bio-toilets, multi-tiered steel luggage shelves, snack tables, and a tourist-friendly lounge.
Vistadome coaches also come with security features to ensure the safety of the passengers while they enjoy their journey. The security features include shatterproof glass, CCTV surveillance, Braille signage for visually impaired people, and wider entrance doors for differently abled people. The coaches also include an automatic fire detection, alarm, and control system.
As per a government press release, the manufacture and induction of more Vistadome coaches into train services is an ongoing process subject to operational feasibility, schedule of the train, traffic justification, and availability of rolling stock. Vistadome coaches are being manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. According to railway officials, the Integral Coach Factory manufactured the coaches at a production cost of approximately Rs 4 crore.

- Visit the IRCTC website, irctc.co.in.
- Enter your login details and password.
- Once you login, enter details such as to and from stations, journey date, and category.
- In the class section, only select AC Chair Car or Executive Chair Car to book Vistadome coaches. Uncheck all other classes.
- Once you enter the required details, you will see train ticket fare details displayed.
- To book a Vistadome train ticket, click on the “Book Now” button, which is given under the availability option.
- On the next page, passenger details will be displayed. Review booking and payment options.
