New Delhi: These days a video is going viral on social media where it is claimed that in Ashwani Khad river of Himachal Pradesh that earlier used to stay clean has now been polluted by plastic garbage to an extent that of late, instead of water, plastic appears to be flowing in the river.

The video raises a question that how come so much of plastic garbage got accumulated in a river in the place where the use of plastic is banned.

It is being claimed that the plastic got accumulated in the river right after the rainfall. Team Viral Sach investigated the matter to find out how true is the video.

We visited the river in question and found it comparatively cleaner. Upon asking the locals we were told that for the water may appear cleaner now but for the most part of the year, the river remains dirty as people are in habit of dumping plastic, bottles, even clothes in the nearby area.

We found out the person who posted the video. He said that the people who are claiming that the video is fake, are actually trying to cover up the truth.

In our investigation, we found that instead of dumping their garbage in the city, residents are dumping it at a spot from where the garbage subsequently flows into the river with rainwater.

Speaking to ABP News’ Viral Sach team CM Jai Ram Thakur said that plastic ban is strictly implemented in the state, despite it, accumulation of such large amount of plastic is a matter of grave concern. He urged the people to cooperate with the government in keeping the area clean.

Thus the viral video has been proved true.
