New Delhi: As Aligarh Muslim University remains at the centre of the Jinnah controversy, a fresh allegation is mounting up on it via a viral message on social media.

According to the viral message, AMU has betrayed and forgotten Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh who donated thousands of acres of land to the university. It claims that there is no picture of him inside the university and nobody acknowledges his contribution in the university.

The message is accompanied with his picture.

Team Viral Sach first dug up information about Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh.

Prominent historian and writer Irfan Habib who had worked with Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh during 1962 elections told ABP News that Raja Mahendra was known for his service towards nations and for his strong opposition of British regime. He contested elections in 1962 from Aligarh and emerged victorious.

To find whether he donated land for university or not, we approached his descendants first and then talked to Aligarh Muslim University spokesperson.

We found that Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh had donated a good portion of his land to the university.

University spokesperson Shafe Kidwai acknowledged the contribution of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh and informed that the land for the playground of the city school inside Aligarh Muslim University has been donated by him and told that his portrait is there in the library of the university followed with the caption that tells he was a great son of the country and also that he donated land for the university.

Upon cross-checking in the university library we found his picture with the glorifying caption.

Thus the claim that Aligarh Muslim University does not acknowledge Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh’s contribution and that there is no picture of him in the university, has been proved false in Viral Sach investigation.
