Vikas Dubey Arrested: Uttar Pradesh’s notorious history-sheeter Vikas Dubey has been arrested in Madhya Pradesh after 6 days of dodging police following the vicious Kanpur Shootout in which eight police personnel were killed by him and his associates. Police sources have confirmed that Dubey went to Mahakal mandir of Ujjain and told about himself to the temple’s security guard.

Apparently Vikas Dubey, whose five close aides have been killed by police in separate encounters, feared being encountered in a similar fashion, as police across the region, including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR and Madhya Pradesh were on an alert vigil after they were notified about his escape.

Main Vikas Dubey Hoon, Kanpur Wala, Shouts Dubey as cops nab him

With defiance still in his voice, despite being grabbed by cops, Dubey could be heard shouting, "I am Vikas Dubey, the one from Kanpur,"(Main Vikas Dubey Hoon, Kanpur Wala) as he was being taken by police in the vehicle.

"It is a big success for the police, Vikas Dubey is a cruel killer. Whole Madhya Pradesh police were on alert. He has been arrested from Ujjain Mahakal temple. We have informed Uttar Pradesh Police," said Narottam Mishra, Madhya Pradesh Minister.

An account of what happened:

Vikas Dubey who was last spotted just a day ago in Faridabad's OYO hotel, somehow managed to reach Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh by Thursday. He went to the famous Mahakal Temple of Ujjain and was probably buying ticket for darshan, under a fake identity.  On growing suspicious of his appearance, the temple staff alerted the security guards who surrounded him and immediately informed the Mahakal police chowki which is very near to the temple.

On Wednesday,  it was reported when he had checked in at the OYO hotel in Faridabad, he had used a fake identity under the name of Ankur.

Five of his associates killed in encounter:

Earlier in the morning, two more of his close associated were gunned down by police in separate encounters in Uttar Pradesh. Prabhat Mishra and Ranveer (alias Bawan) of  Dubey’s gang, both key members, who were also involved in the killing of the eight cops during botched raid at Dubey’s residence in Bikru village, have been shot dead by the police.

Amar Dubey, another close aide of Dubey was killed in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) in Hamirpur on Wednesday. Amar Dubey, who carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on him, was a co-accused in the  killing of the eight cops.  UP Special Task Force (STF) gunned him down in coordination with the local police unit in Hamirpur.

Earlier Prem Prakash Pandey, uncle of Vikas Dubey, and Atul Dubey, his cousin, have been killed  by the police.
