Vijaysai Reddy, senior political leader from Andhra Pradesh, submitted his resignation from Rajya Sabha membership on Saturday. He submitted the resignation a day after he announced his retirement from politics.
Vijaysai Reddy had been serving as the leader of the parliamentary party, floor leader in Rajya Sabha, and national general secretary of the YSRCP. Previously, he had also served as the member of Board of Trustees of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, Tirupati for two terms.
In the resignation letter to Chairman of Rajya Sabha Jagdeep Dhankhar, YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Vijaysai Reddy said, "I hereby voluntarily resign from my seat in the Rajya Sabha with immediate effect as a Member representing Andhra Pradesh from the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP). Requesting you to kindly accept my resignation."

On Friday, announcing his retirement, he tweeted, "I am retiring from politics. I am not joining any political party. My resignation is not to attain any post/position, benefit, or monetary gain. This decision is entirely personal. There is no pressure, or coercion or undue influence on me."
He also declared that though he has political differences with TDP he has had no personal issues with Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu and his family. He also said that Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan was his friend forever.
YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Vijayasai Reddy contested from Nellore Lok Sabha constituency in the 2024 elections but was defeated by TDP candidate Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, who secured a majority of 2.4 lakh votes.
