Another Vande Bharat train ran into cattle near Atul in the Mumbai Central division on Saturday morning. Following the incident, the train had to be halted for 15 minutes, following which it resumed its journey to Gandhinagar, the Indian Railways has said.
The Indian Railways said, "There is no damage to the train, except damage on nose cone cover of front coach i.e Driver coach. The train is running smoothly. This will be attended to at the earliest."
In view of an increase in such incidents, Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw had earlier said that fencing work has begun on many railway routes to protect trains from damage due to cattle.
"All railway tracks in the country are still on the ground and surface. The problem of cattle thus persists. However, trains are being designed to tackle such issues," he said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
The new Vande Bharat train is an advanced version compared to the earlier ones, being much lighter and capable of reaching a higher speed in a shorter duration, news agency PTI reported officials as stating.
The train will run six days a week except on Wednesdays, with stops at Ambala, Chandigarh, Anandpur Sahib, and Una. It accelerates to 100 km per hour in just 52 seconds.
