New Delhi: The education department in Uttarakhand has directed the authorities of Dehradun’s Brightlands School to close the institution for two days after an 11-year-old student tested positive for Covid-19.


Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Manoj Upreti said that all schools have been directed to follow protocol of wearing masks, physical distancing and hand hygiene, ANI reported.


Meanwhile, India’s active caseload currently stands at 15,873 and 2,593 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.


The Union Health Ministry said the active cases now constitute 0.04% of the country’s total positive cases.

“Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.75%,” the ministry added.


Around 1,755 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic is now at 4,25,19,479.


The Health Ministry said the country’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 187.67 crore as per provisional reports till 7 a.m. today.


“This has been achieved through 2,30,29,745 sessions,” the ministry added.


The Covid-19 vaccination for the 12-14 years age group was started on March 16, 2022.


So far, more than 2,65,75,579 adolescents have been administered with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

Similarly, the Covid-19 precaution dose administration for the 18-59 years age group also started from April 10, 2022, onwards.


The ministry said 3,87,719 precaution doses have been administered in the 18-59 years age group so far.
