A massive avalanche occurred over the Gandhi Sarovar in Kedarnath. No loss of life and property has been reported in the incident.
The avalanche occurred around 5 am on Sunday morning on the mountain located behind Kedarnath Dham.
This avalanche that occurred near the Chorabari glacier fell into the valley in the same area but there was no loss of life or property.
Devotees who went to visit the Kedarnath temple this morning captured the natural phenomenon, which occurred around 5 am, on their mobile phones. A huge cloud of snow was seen sliding down with speed and stopped after falling into a deep ravine.
The avalanche occurred in the upper region of the Gandhi Sarovar in Chorabari glacier, below the snow-covered Meru-Sumeru mountain range located at the upper end of Kedarnath valley. Rudraprayag District Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar said there was no loss of life or property due to the avalanche.
“There was an avalanche from above Gandhi Sarovar in Kedarnath at around 5 am today. There was no loss of life or property,” Rudraprayag senior superintendent of police Dr Vishakha Ashok Bhadane told ANI.
Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for heavy rains in parts of Uttarakhand, including Pithoragarh, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Pauri, Udham Singh Nagar and Champawat.
Light rain is expected in some areas of Dehradun, Nainital, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts.

The Yatra started early morning from the twin tracks -- the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag and the 14-km shorter but steeper Baltal route in Ganderbal.
