New Delhi: Four children died in their sleep when the wall of their house collapsed in Chandra Pura village under the Civil Lines police station area in Uttar Pradesh's Etawah, late Wednesday night, reported PTI. According to the District Magistrate (DM), Avnish Kumar Rai said the incident also left the children's 70-year-old grandmother Chandni Debi, and a five-year-old sibling, injured. They have been admitted to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Government Joint Hospital for treatment. 


The deceased have been identified as Sinku (10), Abhi (8) Sonu (7) and Aarti (5) he said.


"Four siblings, three boys, and one girl have died and the compensation will be granted to the family as per the norms," Rai was quoted by ANI as saying.


The incident occurred following continuous rainfall in Etawa for the past 24 hours, senior officials said on Thursday.


Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath also expressed deep grief over the deaths of the children.


As per the CMO, CM Adityanath has instructed to give a relief amount of Rs 4 Lakh from the Disaster Relief Fund to the next of kin of the deceased and to give proper treatment to the injured persons.


"#UPCM @myogiadityanath has deeply condoled the loss of lives due to the collapse of the wall in district Etawah. The Chief Minister has directed the senior officers to immediately visit the spot and conduct relief work," the CMO tweeted.


"The Chief Minister has given instructions to provide relief amount of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and directed them (officials) to make proper arrangements for their treatment while wishing for a speedy recovery of the injured," it said in another tweet.

In a similar incident, Ram Sanehi, 65,  and his wife Reshma Debi, 62, died when the boundary wall of a petrol pump along their hut collapsed in Kripalpur village under Ekdil police station area, PTI reported.  


The third incident took place in Andava ke Banglan village under Chakarnagar police station area of the district where Jabar Singh (35) was buried alive after his house collapsed after a continuous and heavy downpour.
