In a stern advisory issued on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the United States Embassy in India has cautioned Indian students studying in the US to strictly comply with the conditions of their student visas, warning that any violation could result in revocation of their current visa and loss of eligibility for future US visas.
Taking to X, US Embassy India said, "If you drop out, skip classes, or leave your program of study without informing your school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future U.S. visas. Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues."

The warning comes amid a politically sensitive atmosphere in the US, as President Donald Trump reemerges into the national spotlight with controversial remarks over mass deportations and concerns over the rising number of international students in American colleges.
Meanwhile, a US judge has temporarily blocked the Trump administration's attempt to restrict the enrollment of foreign students at Harvard University. The decision, issued on Friday by U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs, comes in response to a lawsuit filed by Harvard in a Boston federal court, arguing that the government's action violates the First Amendment and would have a severe and immediate impact on the university and more than 7,000 visa holders.
Harvard's lawsuit states that the administration's directive has disrupted campus operations, especially with graduation approaching. Many international students, involved in research labs, teaching, assisting professors, and athletics, are now forced to decide between transferring to another institution or risking the loss of their legal status in the US.
