New Delhi: Union Civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said those involved in a scuffle on board a Thai Smile Airways flight have been booked and said such behaviour is ‘unacceptable’, news agency ANI reported.
Taking to Twitter, Scindia wrote, "With regard to the scuffle between passengers on board a Thai Smile Airways flight, a police complaint has been filed against those involved. Such behaviour is unacceptable.”
Notably, a video showing three-four passengers, thrashing another flyer, when the aircraft was mid-air went viral on the social media earlier in the day. A flight attendant trying to calm them down can also be seen.
"We've taken cognizance of the viral video which is showing a fight between passengers on a Thai Airways flight to Kolkata. Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has sought a detailed report from the concerned authority. Further action to be taken," Zulfiquar Hasan, DG, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, said.
In the beginning of the video, two men are seen arguing. One of the men can be heard saying “haath neeche kar [put your hands down]”. Within no time, the argument turned into a full-fledged brawl.
As one of the men takes off his spectacles and starts hitting the other person, the former’s friends join him in the attack. The other passenger, however, doesn’t attempt to hit back and merely tries to shield himself from the blows.
The other passengers on the flight call for calm. After sometime a flight attendant is successful in breaking up the fight.
