New Delhi: After removing the blue tick from Vice President Of India Venkaiah Naidu’s account and later restoring it after the Centre’s interference, Twitter has now withdrawn the blue tick from RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's personal account.


Twitter has not justified reasons for the action but had cited earlier on Saturday that it is removing the verification status from those accounts which are inactive from the last 6 months.

However, there are many such accounts like Late finance minister Arun Jaitley, Late External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj which has the blue badge even after remaining inactive for a year. Bhagwat’s handle has 209k followers and he has not tweeted anything since he joined it.


Twitter has also unverified accounts of other RSS functionaries like Suresh Soni ( Sah Sar Karywah, RSS), Arun Kumar (Akhil Bhartiya Prachar Pramukh, RSS), Krishna Gopal (Sah Sar Karywah, RSS), and Suresh Joshi (Sarkaryawah, RSS).


Meanwhile, regarding Naidu’s handle, ANI cited that the blue tick had gotten removed as the personal account of the Vice- President had remained inactive since July last year. An official statement from the platform is awaited.


Naidu’s Twitter handle — @MVenkaiahNaidu — has 1.3 million followers. The last tweet from his account was on July 23, 2020, which shows the vice-president is not active on his personal account since then.

According to the policies stated by Twitter for the blue badge, an account must be notable, authentic, and active.


Twitter currently verifies 6 types of notable handles which include Government Companies, brands and non-profit organisation, News organizations and journalists, Entertainment, Sports and esports, activists, organisers, and other influential individuals.
