TMC MLA Dr Nirmal Maji has said he finds Maa Sarada, the wife and spiritual consort of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, and Mother Teresa in West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Addressing an event in Bengal, Maji also emotionally referred to the TMC supremo as Florence Nightingale, Sister Nivedita and Goddess Durga. A video of the TMC MLA's speech has gone viral on social media.

"Didi (Mamata Banerjee) is mother Sarada. A few days before Swami Vivekananda's death, Maa Sarada had told some of Swamiji's disciples that when she will be reborn in Kalighat's Harish Chatterjee Road near the Kali temple. Maa Sarada said she will be born as a human being and will be involved in sacrifice, social and political activities," Maji said.

The TMC MLA from Uluberia North said his claims were based on statistics and numerology as per the period of Maa Sarada's death and the birth of Mamata Banerjee.

"She (Mamata Banerjee) is Florence Nightingale, she is Mother Teresa, she is Sister Nivedita. She is Durga because she was born at the juncture of the Ashtami-Navami tithi of Durga Puja," Maji further said.

Maji was recently removed from the post of chairman of the Calcutta Medical College's Patient Welfare Association following a series of complaints.

Earlier, Kamarhati MLA Madan Mitra had also claimed that Mamata Banerjee had divine powers. Another minister Manas Bhuiyan had compared the TMC supremo to Maa Durga.

In 2021, Goa Forward Party (GFP) president Kiran Kandolkar had compared Banerjee to Goddess Durga, saying she would eliminate the "Bhasmasur BJP government" in the coastal state.
