The TMC leader Sushmita Dev on Friday slammed Congress West Bengal President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for hi forigner remark on TMC MP Derek O’Brien.
The West Bengal Congress president and Member of Parliament Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday remarked that Derek O’Brien is a 'foreigner, he knows a lot of things', after the TMC leader accused Chowdhury of being the reason why the seat-sharing talks fell in West Bengal with the INDIA bloc.
The TMC leader Sushmita Dev on Friday told the news agency ANI that "Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has been Congress (State) president for years now. What has been their record in Bengal? Had he thought of it, he would not have hesitated when it comes to seat sharing. So, I would like to say that the kinds of statements he is making are against the culture of the country. I think the lesser he speaks, the better it is for the 2024 elections."
While speaking to the reporters on Thursday night, Chowdhury, said, "Derek O’Brien is a foreigner, he knows a lot of things. Ask him."
Chowdhury hit out at Trinamool Congress MP, calling him a 'foreigner', after the TMC leader accused the Congress state president of being the reason why the seat-sharing talks fell in West Bengal with the INDIA bloc.
Adhir Ranjan had earlier hit out at Mamata Banerjee's TMC after the party had decided to contest all the 42 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal, including Adhir Ranjan's bastion, Berhampore seat.
While speaking to the reporters on Thursday night, Adhir Ranjan, said, "Derek O’Brien is a foreigner, he knows a lot of things. Ask him."
"Three reasons for the alliance not working in Bengal – Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury," O'Brien had said in a statement to media.
