Chhattisgarh Election: Kejriwal Likely To Visit Bastar This Week

Chief Minister of Delhi and national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled for a one-day visit to Bastar, Chhattisgarh, on September 16. During his visit, Kejriwal is likely to explain his previously announced 'guarantees' for the welfare of tribals and farmers in the state.

He is slated to address a public rally in Jagdalpur.

Last month, Kejriwal announced the AAP's 10th Chhattisgarh poll guarantee for farmers and tribals.

Chhattisgarh in-charge of the AAP Sandeep Jha earlier said that Kejriwal would engage with the people of the Bastar region. He will also address a public gathering to formally announce the 'guarantee' to the locals.

Jha also said that those interested in joining the AAP would be welcomed into the party folds and considered for the upcoming election as candidates. He revealed that the party would soon release its first list of candidates for the election.

The AAP's '10 poll guarantees' in Chhattisgarh include several initiatives, such as free quality education in schools, non-stop 24-hour electricity supply up to 300 units, electricity bill waivers, and a monthly honorarium of Rs 1,000 for all women aged above 18.

Similar to Delhi, an AAP-led government in Chhattisgarh would offer free healthcare services and establish mohalla clinics in both rural and urban areas. The proposal also included an unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 per month and the regularization of all contractual employees, a demand that has gained prominence as the elections draw nearer. Kejriwal reiterated that his tenth guarantee would revolve around the welfare of farmers and tribals, with more details to be unveiled during his forthcoming visit.

Sonia Gandhi To Announce 'Five Poll Guarantees' In Telangana

The Congress party is gearing up to launch five new 'guarantees' for the people of Telangana on September 17 in the run up to the Assembly elections. Senior party leader Sonia Gandhi will unveil the guarantees during a rally.

Ahead of Sonia Gandhi's visit, the newly constituted Congress Working Committee, under party president Mallikarjun Kharge, will convene its maiden meeting in Hyderabad on September 16. A Congress Working Committee (CWC) session is scheduled for September 17. This will include the participation of all Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chiefs.
