The Opposition, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs staged a protest demanding an immediate discussion on the Formula E case in the Telangana Assembly on Friday. The controversy stemmed from an FIR filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) against BRS Working President and MLA KT Rama Rao (KTR) alleging irregularities amounting to Rs 45 crore in the organisation of the Formula E race in Hyderabad.

During the protest, BRS leaders accused the ruling Congress of targeting KTR through politically motivated cases. The FIR, they claimed, was an act of vendetta for questioning the Congress government's unfulfilled promises.

As part of the protest, BRS MLC K Kavitha appeared in the Legislative Council wearing a black saree. Kavitha alleged that the case against her brother KTR was fabricated and called it an attempt to malign the BRS leadership.

BRS MLC K Kavitha said, "We will be protesting today in the council and assembly as well. The Congress party here which is ruling in Telangana has created falsified cases and frivolous cases that they have put on our working President KTR. They released an FIR yesterday saying that there has been corruption in Formula E racing."

There is absolutely zero corruption, she asserted adding that there was no involvement of their leader in the case.

"We truly believe that he has only worked in the interest of the state and our leader demanded that there should be a debate in the assembly which is not allowed by the government. So a government which is fearing to take up the debate is coming to attack BRS in the form of cases. We will fight because we are on the right side. We have done nothing wrong so we will fight for our rights and we will tell the people of Telangana that this is a false case and we will protest both in assembly and council today," he said.
