Patna: Bihar's Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav is adamant on his demand for conducting caste census. Tejashwi has been continuously demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi for conducting the caste census proposed to be done in 2021. In this regard, just a day before Independence Day, Tejashwi has tweeted and demanded PM Modi to announce the caste census.

He has appealed to PM Modi to announce the conduction of a caste census during his Independence Day speech after hoisting the flag at the Red Fort tomorrow.

Announce Caste Census From Red Fort

Tejashwi tweeted on Saturday, "Parliament is not the right place for announcing this, but tomorrow, on the occasion of India's 75th Independence Day I demand Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce an "ethnic census" from the ramparts of the Red Fort, to give proper impetus to the upliftment and inclusive developmental work of the poor, deprived, neglected and backward sections of the Indian society."

Tejashwi Writes To PM Modi

Earlier on Friday, Bihar leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav had written to the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a caste-based census. The Leader of the Opposition wrote in his letter, "The Government of India conducts a census study after every 10 years to understand the expected progress of achieving collective goals of policy formulation, budget allocation and collective targets under the slogan of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas' in India and to give proper impetus to development works in the country."

Tejashwi had said, "The Central Government has provided written information in Parliament not to conduct the caste census, which is unfortunate. The scheduled and backward classes have not been able to make the required progress for years.

In such a situation, if the caste census will not be conducted now, the educational, social, political and economic condition of the backward and scheduled castes will neither be properly assessed, nor will there be a proper policy formulation related to their betterment, nor will the budget allocation be done in proportion to their population.
