New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Monday interact with the winners of the National Awards to Teachers 2022 on the occasion of Teacher's Day.


According to a statement by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the award celebrates and honours the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country.


"The purpose of National Awards to Teachers is to celebrate and honour the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country who through their commitment and hard work have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students," a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office said.

The Prime Minister will interact with the winners at his residence today at 4:30 pm. 


"On the occasion of Teachers' Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the winners of National Awards to Teachers, 2022 at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg on September 5, 2022, at 4:30 pm," the statement informed.


The National Awards to Teachers, accord public recognition to meritorious teachers working in elementary and secondary schools. The PMO stated that this year, 45 teachers from across the country were selected through a rigorous and transparent online three-stage process.


NAT 2022 will be telecast live on Doordarshan and Swayam Prabha Channels of the Ministry of Education and streamed live on webcast.gov.in/moe, President Droupadi Murmu will grant the awards to the teachers. 


National Teacher's Day commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first vice president and second president of India, who was born on September 5, 1888. He was a true believer in education for all, and with all his contributions, he remained a teacher all his life.
