New Delhi: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh have been put under preventive detention at their house.


Police has locked the main gate of Naidu's residence who was leaving for Atmakur for party's 'Çhalo Atmakur' rally despite being put under preventive custody by the police, news agency ANI reported.

As per sources, the move has been made to prevent them from participating in a massive protest against the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh.

This comes ahead of the party’s ahead of the party’s call for a protest march on Wednesday over attacks on its workers allegedly by the ruling YSR Congress Party.

Former TDP MLA Tangirala Sowmya has also been house arrested at Nandigama town after she and other TDP leaders sat on protest in front of her house for party's ‘Chalo Atmakur’ rally against YSRCP.  MLC YVB Rajendra Prasad has also been put under house arrest in Uyyuru.

Section 144 has been imposed in Narasaraopeta, Sattenapalle, Palnadu and Gurajala regions.

Naidu had called for a rally at Atmakur in Palnadu region against the alleged political violence.

The party has alleged that the cadres of the YSRCP have killed as many as eight of its party workers, claiming that the violence has risen in Palnadu region since the announcement of the Assembly election results.

The TDP has set up a rehabilitation centre at its headquarters here for its party workers who allegedly had to flee their villages due to political violence.

The cadre of the two parties have been clashing with each-other since Tuesday morning.
