Three Christian pilgrims, including a father and daughter, died after they were hit by a speeding car near Virudhachalam on Wednesday. Four others sustained critical injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. The victims were part of a group walking to St. Anthony’s Church, a popular pilgrimage site in the region, when the accident occurred. 

According to eyewitnesses, the pilgrims were walking along the roadside in the early hours when a vehicle, reportedly moving at high speed, lost control and rammed into them.

Local police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a government hospital. The deceased have been identified, and their bodies have been sent for post-mortem.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Preliminary reports suggest negligent and rash driving as the cause.

Newlywed Groom, Infant Killed In Jaisalmer Road Accident

Three persons, including a nine-month-old infant, lost their lives while leaving four others injuried in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer, police reported on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Lila Ram (45), his sister Mooli Devi (35), and infant Hitesh, according to police, as per a report on PTI.

The victims were part of a seven-member family group, including Basanti, the bride, who were traveling by car from Pokaran city when they were hit by an unknown vehicle around midnight on Tuesday, said Head Constable Jaswant Singh. The driver of the offending vehicle fled the scene.

The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital, where three of them were declared dead. Police have registered a case, and an investigation is ongoing to identify the vehicle responsible for the fatal crash.

Lila Ram and Basanti had tied the knot in Pokaran on Tuesday, marking their second marriage for both.
