New Delhi: Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar asked the party workers to take out processions on Hanuman Jayanti and said that the security of those taking out the processions will be entirely of the state government.
Majumdar’s statement comes after Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed apprehensions of violence during Hanuman Jayanti and called "Hindu brothers" to defend minorities and stated that another round of violence is planned in the state on Thursday.
The state BJP chief was stopped from visiting riot-hit areas of Hooghly district today for the second consecutive day.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC are in force in several places of the district where clashes broke out between two groups during a Ram Navami procession on Sunday.
The Balurghat MP along with fellow MP Jyotoirmoy Singh Mahato were on their way to the Battala in the Serampore Lok Sabha area to attend a protest programme but were stopped on Dankuni Road by the police.
Majumdar alleged that the police were blocking the road and causing traffic jams purposely and that only they both wanted to visit the areas but were being barred. He also claimed that Section 144 was imposed for political reasons.

Today, Majumdar wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the law and order situation in the state, alleging that the Police is "harassing and arresting Hindus while turning a blind eye to the actual culprits and criminals from the minority community..."
He also urged the home minister’s personal intervention in the matter.
He also demanded that central forces be immediately deployed in the trouble-hit areas and an NIA probe as the "state police have completely failed to control the situation", said if he is not allowed to join the protest at Battala, he would launch a sit in on that spot.
