President Droupadi Murmu presented the recipients with their Swachh Survekshan 2022 Awards, which were given out by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) at a ceremony in New Delhi on Saturday. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was also present at the event. 


Madhya Pradesh has taken first place in the category of best performing States for the "Swachh Survekshan Awards 2022," ahead of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, PTI reported. 


Indore was named India's cleanest city for the sixth time in a row, with Surat and Navi Mumbai taking the next two spots in the Central government's annual cleanliness survey, reports news agency ANI. 






This year, the top two big cities were still Indore and Surat, while Vijaywada dropped to third place behind Navi Mumbai. According to the survey results, Tripura has earned the top spot among the States with fewer than 100 urban local bodies, reports PTI. 


Panchgani in Maharashtra was placed first among cities with a population of under one lakh, followed by Patan in Chhattisgarh and Karhad in Maharashtra.


In the category of towns with more than 1 lakh inhabitants, Haridwar was determined to be the cleanest Ganga town, followed by Varanasi and Rishikesh.


Among Ganga towns with fewer than one lakh inhabitants, Bijnor was placed #1. Kannauj and Garhmukhteshwar are next, respectively, reports PTI. 


Deolali in Maharashtra was recognised as the nation's cleanest cantonment board.


The seventh edition of Swachh Survekshan was performed to assess the Swachh Bharat Mission's (Urban) progress and rank Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) according to various standards for cleanliness and sanitation.


The Survekshan has evolved from a survey of 73 cities in 2016 to a survey of 4,354 cities this year, reports PTI.
