She has even asked her followers for their opinion on the abusive tweets in a Twitter pol. She wrote: “Friends: I have liked some tweets. This is happening for the last few days. Do you approve of such tweets? Please RT.”
In the past fifteen hours, near about 50,000 people have voted in the poll of which 59% people have voted for no, while 41% have voted for yes.
The entire row rose out of Tanvi Seth’s passport issue where she had alleged misbehavior on the part of passport officials. As per her allegations, the passport officials had questioned her on having a Hindi name when she has a Muslim husband. She was then allegedly asked to change her name. The passport officer Vikas Misra had then refused to make her passport and was later transferred.
Tanvi had tweeted the matter to the ministry of external affairs. When the matter caught media’s attention, Tanvi was given a passport by the officials to get finished with the row and the accused officer was transferred. However the investigation committee made by Uttar Pradesh government has found that Tanvi had provided many false information for her passport and she is liable for facing action
Many twitter users have objected to providing passport to the couple. They were of the opinion that Tanvi had intentionally given the matter a communal angle. Angered over the transfer of Vikas Mishra and providing of passport to the couple without fact-heck, many users breached the line of conduct and targeted Sushma in hateful tweets.
One user commented with the hashtag #IsupportVikasMishra , ‘is this effect of Islamic kidney?’, while other commented that he would pray for Sushma’s kidney to get damaged again.
