The 65-year old MP from Karnataka's Belagavi constituency had tested positive for the deadly COVID-19 infection on September 11. The minister was initially asymptomatic and had informed that "he was doing fine." Upon deteriorating health conditions, the BJP MP was shifted to a dedicated Covid-19 facility at the AIIMS Trauma Centre where he breathed his last on September 23.

Angadi is the second Karnataka MP to succumb to coronavirus. Last week, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Gasti passed away due to the deadly COVID-19.

As soon as the news broke out, several leaders, politicians across the party lines expressed grief on Angadi's death. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his official Twitter handle to condole the untimely death of the Suresh Angadi.

"Shri Suresh Angadi was an exceptional Karyakarta, who worked hard to make the Party strong in Karnataka. He was a dedicated MP and effective Minister, admired across the spectrum. His demise is saddening. My thoughts are with his family and friends in this sad hour. Om Shanti," PM tweeted along with a photo of Suresh Angadi.



Karnataka BJP MP Rajeev Chandrashekhar also mourned the untimely death of the minister. "Tragic terrible sad news of Karnataka BJP leader and minister Suresh Angadi passing away," Chandrashekhar tweeted.
