The Supreme Court registry on Monday filed a complaint over malicious social media post linking CJI DY Chandrachud's family member to alleged doctor's lobby in West Bengal ahead of Kolkata Doctor's rape and murder case hearing.
A widely circulated social media post tried to link CJI DY Chandrachud's wife with alleged "north Bengal lobby" of doctors. The cyber complaint filed by the registry says that the social media post is ill-intended, factually incorrect and an attempt to malign judiciary's image.
Earlier on September 7, the West Bengal case had issued a warning against the widely circulated social media post that casted "extremely derogatory aspersions," on CJI Chandrachud's family.

The West Bengal police took to microblogging platform 'X' and warned against extremely derogatory and baseless aspersions being casted by some people in social media about the Supreme Court of India as well as the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud.
It warned the public and said "exploiting freedom of speech to indulge in wild falsehood, that too against the Hon’ble Apex Court, is illegal and punishable. Sternest possible legal action will be initiated against those trying to malign the judiciary."
Earlier, The Supreme Court filed a cybercrime complaint with the Delhi Police against a social media account that impersonated Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and requested Rs 500 for a cab fare.
The action over the post impersonating the Chief Justice India was taken after the viral post on social media came into CJI's notice.
