Sudan Crisis Will Have 'No Negative' Impact On Relations With India: Sudanese Envoy

The Sudanese envoy said most of the nations in Europe, Asia, Arab and Gulf along with Japan and Australia have started their process of evacuating their citizens from conflict-ridden Sudan. 

The ongoing crisis in Sudan will have no negative impact on the relation between the Northeast African nation and India, said Abdalla Omer Bashir Elhusain, Sudanese Ambassador to India on Wednesday. “Definitely not a negative impact...if there is any impact that is positive. I think there is a good level of cooperation and coordination during this crisis...will make us look into the future more optimistic,” said the Sudanese envoy while speaking to news agency ANI. 

Speaking on resolving the conflict in Sudan, the diplomat said, “the people are the one suffering from the clashes. We always hope for the best for our citizens in Sudan. Hope the war will reach an end as soon as possible.” 

Elhusain also said most of the nations in Europe, Asia, Arab and Gulf along with Japan and Australia have started their process of evacuating their citizens from Sudan. 

Under Operation Kaveri, an IAF C-130J aircraft with 135 Indians from Port Sudan arrived in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah early Wednesday morning. 

Earlier this morning, another IAF aircraft with 148 Indian citizens landed in Jeddah. The Indian government is running Operation Kaveri to extract stranded citizens from Sudan which has been hit by severe violence due to clashes between the country's forces and rebel RAF.

violence erupted in Sudan due to a power struggle between two main factions of the country’s military regime, resulting in the death of more than 250 people and leaving approximately 2,600 others injured in Khartoum and other cities. 

The conflict involves the regular army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the main paramilitary force. This situation has raised the possibility of a civil war breaking out across the country.
