Stones were allegedly thrown at the convoy of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) leader Aaditya Thackeray in Aurangabad’s Vaijapur area during the party’s Shiv Sanvaad Yatra on Tuesday evening. Ramabai Ambedkar's procession was also taking place close to the Sena venue when the incident took place.

Shiv Sena Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council Ambadas Danve, who is accompanying the leader on the yatra alleged that stones were pelted to create a rift between those carrying out the procession and the Shiv Sena supporters present at the venue.

"A stone fell inside venue, some stones were pelted at convoy while we were leaving the venue. Crowd was raising slogans in support of local MLA, Ramesh Bornare. It was an attempt by anti-social elements in mob to create a rift between two groups," said Ambadas Danve, according to ANI.

Danve further said that after the police asked them to stop the DJ and the procession, the crowd went angry and started pelting stones at the convoy. Looking at the situation, Aaditya Thackeray had to come down the stage and give his speech. He also apologised to the people present at the venue.

"Looking at the situation, Aaditya Thackeray gave the speech by coming down the stage. He apologised to the crowd for the inconvenience and said that they can if they want to play the DJ and carry out the procession," he further said.

The incident has prompted Ambadas Danawe to write a letter to the Director General of Maharashtra Police to look into the matter and take strict action against police officials including the SP for not providing adequate security to Thackeray's event, reported PTI.
