Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Combined Commanders' Conference-2023 in Bhopal on Saturday and reviewed the security situation and operational readiness of the Armed Forces. 


"The Prime Minister was briefed by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan about the various discussions conducted during this year's conference," said the Defence Ministry.


While speaking at the event, the Prime Minister hailed the role played by the Armed Forces in Nation Building and providing Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) assistance to friendly countries.


"The Prime Minister called upon the three Services to stay ready to deal with these new and emerging threats, emphasising that all steps are being taken to equip the armed forces with necessary weapons and technologies," the Defence Ministry said.


NSA Ajit Doval, CDS Gen Anil Chauhan, Army chief Gen Manoj Pande, and IAF Chief ACM VR Chaudhari were also present at the event attended by PM Modi.

During the final day of the Combined Commanders’ Conference-, the Prime Minister was briefed about various indigenous military innovations including the Virtual Reality based 84mm Rocket Launcher Firing Simulator (VR-RL).


Various other topics including aspects of digitisation, cyber security, challenges of social media, Aatmanirbharta, absorption of Agniveers and jointness were also discussed during the event.


A few multi-layered and interactive sessions were also conducted with participation of soldiers from every command of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force, including the Tri-Services Andaman and Nicobar Command, the Defence Ministry said in its statement.


On March 31, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had interacted with the top military brass and reviewed the defence preparedness.


The three-day conference of Military Commanders commenced on March 30, 2023 with the theme 'Ready, Resurgent, Relevant'.


The conference witnessed the participation of commanders from the three armed forces and senior officers from the Ministry of Defence.
