New Delhi: The 85th plenary session of the Congress party will be held from February 24-26 in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, the party announced on Sunday in a press conference. It said that former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, party MP Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will also be attending the session.
The session is being held to prepare for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the party said in the presser.
Rajya Sabha MP KC Venugopal said, "Congress’ plenary session will be held in Raipur from 24th February 2023 onwards. It will be an important milestone on the journey towards the 2024 parliamentary elections."
He added that around 15,000 delegates have been invited to attend this plenary session.
The MP further said that the session will begin at 10 am with a meeting of the Steering Committee which, he added, will review and approve the solutions put forth by the Drafting Committee.
Member of the Steering Committee, Kumari Selja said that the venue of the session will be called Shaheed Vir Narayan Singh Nagar in honour of the eminent freedom fighter.
"The plenary sabha sthal is going to be called 'Shaheed Vir Narayan Singh Nagar' in honour of the eminent freedom fighter. On 26th, we will hold a public meeting & the venue is named after our senior leader, Late Shri Motilal Vohra ji," she added.
Congress leader Tariq Anwar said that the party is going forward with the energy it got from the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'. He said that the party will decide on several issues including politics, youth and SC-ST welfare in the session.
Senior Congres leader Pawan Bansal said that the session will conclude at 2 PM on February 26 and a rally will be taken out at 4 PM the same day. Bansal said that 15,000 delegates will be participating in the rally.
