New Delhi: A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and forensic experts reached the Leoney Grand Resort in Goa on Saturday where BJP leader Sonali Phogat stayed with her aides before her death, reported news agency ANI. According to the report, the CBI officers investigating the case were inside the resort for over 10 hours.

The development comes as the CBI took over the probe into Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sonali Phogat’s death from the Goa Police on September 15, 2022 and registered an FIR into the case followed by an order for a detailed investigation in the case.

The CBI and the forensic team arrived at the resort located on North Goa’s Anjuna beach earlier on Saturday.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had earlier said that he would request Union Home Minister Amit Shah to hand over the Phogat case to the CBI. On September 12, the Ministry of Home Affairs recommended a CBI investigation into Sonali Phogat's death.
