Lucknow: Elaborate security arrangements have been made in and around Muzaffarnagar in view of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha’s (SKM) Mahapanchayat on Sunday.
Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Mukul Goel said appropriate arrangements have been made in view of the Kisan Mahapanchayat in Muzaffarnagar to ensure that no law and order problem arises.

“There is a possibility of farmers from neighbouring states Haryana, Punjab and Uttarakhand also attending the gathering,” the top cop added, ANI reported.
The Mahapanchayat is being convened to protest the three contentious farm laws.
Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait has said that a large number of people will be in attendance at the event.
“Tke Kisan Mahapanchayat organised by @Kisanektamorcha in Muzaffarnagar on September 5 will prove to be a milestone in protecting the interests of the rural farmers and farm labourers. This panchayat will connect the youth with the soil of the field. Make your presence felt on the historical ground of Muzaffarnagar. #FarmersProtest,” he tweeted earlier this week.
The Mahapanchayat assumes significance as the farmers mostly from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have been since November last year demanding that the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, Farmers' (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020, be rolled back and a new law made to guarantee minimum support price for crops.
Several rounds of talks between the farmers and the government have failed to break the deadlock.
