New Delhi: Police along with the Army and CRPF personnel on Wednesday arrested a terrorist associate linked with banned terror outfit, The Resistance Front (TRF), in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district. A police spokesman informed that the arrest was made at a checkpoint established at Kehnusa in north Kashmir's Bandipora, reported news agency PTI.
According to the spokesman, the terrorist associate was identified as Aatif Amin Mir, a resident of Manzpora Aloosa Bandipora.
A hand grenade and other incriminating materials were recovered from Mir’s possession. A case has been registered and further investigation initiated, reported PTI.
Earlier on Friday, J&K Police apprehended three terrorist associates linked with TRF from the Natipora area of Srinagar.
According to a police statement, the trio was "planning to carry out terrorist activities" in Srinagar city.
Police recovered three hand grenades, ten pistol rounds, 25 AK-47 rounds, and other incriminating materials from the accused, reported PTI.
"3 terror associates of TRF arrested by Srinagar Police: a) Imran Najar of Baramulla b)Waseem Matta of Qamarwari c)Wakeel Bhat of Bijbehara with 3 Grenades, 35 live rounds etc. Wakeel was an active terrorist earlier & was released on bail in Aug 2022. FIR no 46/2023 in chanpura PS," Srinagar police said in a tweet.
In another similar instance earlier, J&K's Baramulla Police on July 25 arrested two terrorist associates of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit at Chak Tapper Kreeri. During their personal search 2 Chinese Pistols, 2 Pistol Magazines, 14 live Pistol rounds, 1 ID Card & 1 Xerox copy of Aadhar Card were recovered* from them and were taken into custody immediately.
As per the preliminary investigation, both the terrorist associates admitted that they are affiliated with the banned terrorist organisation and had collected the arms and ammunition for target killing in the Baramulla district, reported news agency ANI. A case against them was registered under Indian Arms Act & UA (P) Act.
The accused were identified as Dayem Majeed Khan, a resident of Bandipora, and Ubair Tariq, a resident of Watrina Bandipora, according to ANI.
