Nadeem Abrar, the top commander of terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba, was arrested by the security forces on Monday. He was involved in several attacks on security forces and civilians in Jammu and Kashmir. Nadeem was arrested in Srinagar when he was travelling in an Alto. Another individual has been arrested along with Nadeem.
Nadeem was involved in terrorist activities since 2018. Jammu and Kashmir Police consider his arrest as a huge success. Vijay Kumar, Inspector-General of Police (Kashmir Zone) tweeted: "Top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Nadeem Abrar arrested. He was involved in several murder cases. This is a huge success for us."
Kumar did not reveal further details about the arrest, but sources said security forces arrested Abrar and other suspects at a check post in Parimpura in the outskirts of the city.
The security forces recovered a pistol and a grenade from the possession of the duo. According to police, Abrar was involved in the killing of three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel at Lawaypora earlier this year.
