New Delhi: An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore area of Baramulla district on Tuesday morning. As per the early inputs, three terrorists were neutralised during the heavy gun fight. 


The Jammu and Kashmir police have informed that that the security forces have currently cordoned off the entire area and concluded the operation which started on Monday. The forces have recovered incriminating material, including arms and ammunition. The sources haven't revealed the identity of the deceased militants.



According to reports, the security forces on receiving information about the presence of militants there, launched a cordon and search operation at Pethseer in Sopore area late Monday night. 


The search operation turned into an encounter in the early hours of Tuesday when the ultras opened fire on the security forces' positions. The police and force retaliated.

The gunfight went on for hours in Seer village of North Kashmir. Residents of the highly-populated area were evacuated by the security forces before the encounter. The terrorists were offered a chance to surrender as per the new policy of the government.


Last week on August 24, two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists were killed by the security forces during the encounter in Pampore area of ​​Awantipora, Jammu and Kashmir.


One of the two terrorists killed in Khrew, Awantipora was involved in the killing of a peon at a govt school in Pastuna on July 23 this year. He was identified as Musaib Mushtaq of Khrew. Second killed terrorist has been identified as Muzamil Ahmad Rather, a resident of Chakoora, Pulwama.
