Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday slammed the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government over the clashes that broke out in Kolhapur and said that Bajrang Bali did not help the Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka, that's why they need Aurangzeb in Maharashtra. Raut also claimed that the people of Kolhapur were not involved in this clash and people from outside were brought in to disturb the situation.

"...As per my knowledge, people of Kolhapur were not involved in this clash. People from outside Kolhapur were brought in to disturb the situation...Why is this happening again and again ever since your govt came to power? You speak of Hindutva. Is your Hindutva so weak that it gets threatened when someone puts up someone's photo?...Do you need Aurangzeb to win the elections? Bajrang Bali didn't help you in Karnataka. So, you need Aurangzeb in Maharashtra," Raut said.

Raut also said that the situation in Kolhapur is under control. "I appeal to the Home Minister of the state that if you do not have intelligence, then you should take information from us… If you talk about Hindutva, then is your Hindutva so weak that if a photo of someone is tossed in a program in a city, then your Hindutva is in danger," Rajya Sabha MP said.

"36 people have been arrested on the charges of rioting, damage to public property and unlawful assembly, over the clash that broke out yesterday between the members of some Hindu organisations and Police in Kolhapur," SP Mahendra Pandit said as reported by the news agency ANI.
