The Mumbai Police has arrested Bikaram Jalaram Bishnoi, who hails from Rajasthan, in Karnataka for sending a threatening message to the control room of Mumbai Traffic Police for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. The 32-year-old accused, Bikaram Jalaram Bishnoi, who claimed to be the "brother" of Lawrence Bishnoi is a native of Jalore district of Rajasthan, the Mumbai Police said.
Actor Salman Khan was issued the threat allegedly by Bikaram Bishnoi on November 5. Mumbai Police Traffic Control received the threatening message, which read, "This is Lawrence Bishnoi's brother. If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our temple and apologise or give Rs 5 crore. If he does not do this, we will kill him. Our gang is still active."
The FIR in the case was registered at the Worli Police Station.
"During the police investigation, it was unveiled that the accused hailed from Karnataka, following which a Worli police team was sent to nab him. He was arrested late on Tuesday and after being interrogation and was placed under arrest by the Worli police," PTI quoted the police officer as saying.
Senior police inspector Nitin Shinde said that Bikram Bishnoi, alias Vikram, a welder from Bengaluru was apprehended.
Earlier on Wednesday, one of the witnesses in the Baba Siddiqui murder case received an extortion call asking Rs 5 crore. The caller is believed to be from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, said the police. An FIR was registered at the Khar police station on the basis of a complaint.
The witness told police that he received the call from an unknown person a few days ago, demanding Rs 5 crore. The caller threatened to kill him if he did not pay up.
