A group of men in a BMW chased a family driving through Greater Noida late at night last week after their vehicles had a light brush on an undivided two-lane road, police said on Monday. Dashcam footage captured the road-rage incident.

The incident reportedly took place on May 2 at 1 am, close to the Yamuna Expressway. The video starts with a view of the BMW, with its headlights on a high beam, travelling towards the car from the opposite direction, breaching the lane lines drawn in the middle of the road. The two cars then have a slight brush as the BMW speeds past.

A few seconds later, the occupants of the other car realise that the BMW has turned around and is following them. The chase continues for around 2 km: All through, a frightened woman is heard asking someone for their help over the phone, while a man gives directions to the driver towards their destination, a hospital. The BMW is then seen overtaking the car. However, just as the vehicle's occupants open their doors, the driver of the car being chased reverses and speeds away.

After four minutes, the BMW overtakes the vehicle again, following which three men step out of the vehicle, and one of them hurls a bottle at the car. The other car again reverses, takes a sharp U-turn, and drives away.

Police Action

Noida Police said they have taken cognisance of the incident and are going through CCTV footage.

"The victim's car and the accused's car came into slight contact with each other and there was an altercation between the two parties," Noida Police said.

"A bottle was thrown at the victim's car by the accused. In the said case, the victim has refused to take any legal action. Action is being taken under the Goonda Act," police said, as quoted by India Today. The BMW was reportedly being driven without licence plates.
