New Delhi: The owner of Serum Institute India, Adar Poonawalla on Wednesday said that the news of rising cases of Coronavirus coming out from China is concerning. He also said that we need not panic as our vaccination coverage is excellent. “The news of rising COVID cases coming out of China is concerning, we need not panic given our excellent vaccination coverage and track record. We must continue to trust and follow the guidelines set by the Government of India”, Poonawalla said in a tweet.
In the wake of rising Covid-19 cases in China, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has said that he has reviewed the coronavirus situation in the country along with experts and officials adding that Covid-19 was not over yet and that he has directed all the concerned officials to stay on alert and to strengthen the surveillance.
"In view of the rising cases of #Covid19 in some countries, reviewed the situation with experts and officials today. COVID is not over yet. I have directed all concerned to be alert and strengthen surveillance. We are prepared to manage any situation," he said.
With reports of a surge in cases in the US, South Korea, and Brazil as well, the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a meeting today to review the coronavirus situation in the country. Mandaviya on Tuesday wrote to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot asking them to ensure that Covid-19 guidelines are strictly followed during the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra.
The letter reads that COVID guidelines be strictly followed during Bharat Jodo Yatra & the use of masks-sanitizer be implemented. It further mentions that only vaccinated people participate in the Yatra. The Union Health Minister also requested that if following Covid-19 protocols is not possible, then the Bharat Jodo Yatra be postponed in the national interest, taking note of the public health emergency.
