Ram Temple Inauguration: Ahead of the consecration ceremony that is scheduled to be held at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, several states have declared half-day and public holiday in government offices and educational institutions.
Preparations are in full swing for the Ram Temple inauguration on January 22, which will draw dignitaries and people from all walks of life. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the installation of the idol of Ram Lalla at the grand temple on January 22.
The Central Government has announced a half-day closing till 2:30 pm on January 22, 2024, at all Central Government offices, Central institutions, and Central industrial establishments throughout India on the occasion of the Ram Temple Pranpratishtha ceremony. In view of the ceremony in Ayodhya, a public holiday has been declared in Maharashtra and Puducherry.

Maharashtra:
The Maharashtra government on Friday announced a public holiday on January 22, the day when the grand idol consecration ceremony will take place at the new Ram temple in Ayodhya, as reported by PTI. A notification from the state government said exercising powers given by the Ministry of Home Affairs, it has decided to announce a public holiday on January 22.
Puducherry:
Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Friday announced that January 22 would be a public holiday in the Union Territory in view of consecration of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya scheduled on that day. He said that all state government offices, educational institutions and undertakings would remain closed on January 22.
Tripura
The Tripura government declared a half-day holiday in the state on January 22 in view of the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya, news agency PTI reported on Friday, citing officials. The state government issued a notification late on Thursday night regarding the closure of offices till 2.30 pm on January 22, they said.
"On the line of notification of the Centre, the state government has decided to declare holiday in all government offices and institutions to witness the pran pratistha of Ram Lalla at Ayodhya on January 22 till 2.30 pm," Secretariat Administration Department's Deputy Secretary Ashim Saha said in the notification, as quoted by PTI.
Madhya Pradesh
As the nation gears up for the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, all government offices and institutions in Madhya Pradesh will remain closed for half a day on January 22, officials said on Friday, as reported by PTI. The state government issued a notification late on Thursday night regarding the closure of offices till 2.30 pm on January 22, they said.
Gujarat
All government offices in Gujarat will remain closed for half a day on January 22, PTI reported, citing officials. A notification regarding the closure of offices till 2.30 pm on January 22 was issued by the state government late on Thursday night, they said.
“The entire country will be celebrating the Ram temple consecration ceremony on January 22. All offices and institutes of state government will remain closed till 2.30 pm on January 22 so that people of the state can participate in the celebrations,” the notification said, as quoted by PTI.
Rajasthan
Rajasthan government on Thursday declared a half-day holiday in the state on January 22. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma made the announcement in the BJP Legislature Party meeting held at the party’s headquarters here on Thursday night, a spokesperson said, as reported by PTI.
In view of the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony, the state government has issued an order to close all the slaughterhouses and meat and fish shops in the state on January 22.
Odisha
All the Odisha government offices will remain closed for half a day on January 22 on the occasion of the consecration ceremony.
“In view of Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya, the government of Odisha has been pleased to declare that the state government offices, as well as the revenue and magisterial courts (executive), will remain closed for half a day till 2.30 pm on January 22, 2024 (Monday),” said a notification issued by the state revenue and disaster management department, as quoted by PTI.
Assam
Assam government on Thursday declared a half-holiday on January 22. All state government offices and educational institutions in the state will remain closed till 2.30 PM on January 22 on account of the half-holiday.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department, the governor has declared a half-holiday in view of the "celebration of the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya so as to enable the employees to participate in the celebrations," as reported by PTI.
Uttarakhand
The Uttarakhand government has said that all the government offices in the state will remain closed till 2:30 pm on January 22. All educational institutions in the state will remain closed.
