Karauli: Family members of priest Babulal, who was allegedly burnt alive by land mafia in Karauli's Bukna village, have refused to perform the last rites of his mortal remains till all their demands are met by the state government. ALSO READ | Security Forces Gun Down 2 Terrorists In J-K’s Kulgam, Encounter Still Underway


Talking to the media, a relative of the deceased Rajasthan priest revealed what the family demands at this point.

"We won't perform the last rites of the body until our demands are met. We want Rs 50 lakhs in compensation & a government job. All accused must be arrested and action should be taken against Patwari and policemen who are supporting the accused. We want protection,": Lalit, Priest Babulal's Relative.

The temple priest was reportedly set on fire by five people over a land dispute, the 50-year-old was set ablaze using petrol after he resisted an attempt by them to encroach upon the land that belonged to the temple authorities, police said on Friday.

The priest had filed an FIR on Thursday at Satpora police station alleging that Meena was trying to grab the land in which his family has been farming. He stated that Meena built a tent on the piece of land which belonged to temple authorities.

Meanwhile, the main accused Kailash Meena has been arrested after the priest succumbed to the injuries.

Mridul Kachhwa, SP of Karauli, had revealed that six teams have been formed under the supervision of additional SP Prakash Chand to investigate the case.
