After months of infighting between Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot camps within the ruling Congress party finally ending with a truce, the state legislative assembly will finally convene today (August 14) to get the legislative machinery in the state back to work. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the opposition party in the state, is all set to bring a no-confidence motion against the Gehlot-led Cong government.

The legislative assembly session comes days after the top brass of the Congress Party announced the return of sacked Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and 18 other dissident MLAs back to the party-fold. According to reports, the Rajasthan Assembly will convene at 11:00 am on Friday.

Meanwhile, security arrangements have been beefed up outside the Rajasthan assembly in Jaipur ahead of the commencement of the session. New guidelines have been issued for those entering the Rajasthan Assembly amid the relentless attack of coronavirus cases in the state.

If the Gehlot-led Congress government proves its majority, it will hold its fort in the assembly and cannot be challenged for the next six months as per the constitution rule books.

The Congress MLAs, who have being staying put at the Jaipur's Fairmont Hotel for over a month now, will travel in buses to reach the Vidhan Sabha at 9:30 am. Meanwhile, MLAs of Sachin Pilot camp will reach Vidhan Sabha on private vehicles.

A Congress Legislature Party meeting chaired by CM Ashok Gehlot, attended by his former deputy Sachin Pilot among others, was held on Thursday. "The meeting was held in a very cordial manner in which discussions were held on moving the confidence motion in the assembly. All MLAs pledged that they will work with unity under the leadership of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot," AICC general secretary Avinash Pande said.

Earlier on Thursday, CM Gehlot addressed the party legislators over the subject of Rajesh Pilot's open rebellion, asking them to "forget what has happened," leaders who attended the meeting said. "We could have proved our majority even without these 19 MLAs (Sachin Pilot and 18 MLAs who were supporting him) but it would not have given us happiness. We will bring a vote of confidence," CM Gehlot had stated on Thursday.
