New Delhi: While speaking to the media, Nationalist Congress Party leader Supriya Sule said with confidence that the court will release Nawab Malik and Anil Deshmukh from jail either today or tomorrow because the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has nothing on them. She said that she knows both the cases thoroughly and that the central government does this with anybody who speaks against them. She further added that Malik and Deshmukh’s raids should be a world record because they have been raided 109 times.
“You can see for yourself, take out the data of those who speak against the central government, they are always raided. As you can see (Malik and Deshmukh) have been raided 109 times, this should be put in the Limca Book of Records. What were they doing when they raided them 108 times?”
She said that during those 108 times they found nothing on Malik and Deshmukh which meant they had to come for the 109th time, “which is shocking and disappointing”.
She further added that both the leaders will get a clean chit today or tomorrow by the court.
She said that she isn’t angry at PM Modi, she is surprised by him, what kind of justice is this.
“When I visit Delhi, I will ask PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah when I’m in the Parliament, what kind of justice is this? Though I’m not angry at PM Modi, I'm just surprised by him.”
These comments by Sule come as ED sought time to file replies on the applications of Nawab Malik & Anil Deshmukh. Both have sought permission to be allowed to vote in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Maharashtra. ED has to file a reply by tomorrow, the next date of hearing is June 8.
Anil Deshmukh, former Maharashtra home minister, Friday, had moved a special court in Mumbai seeking a one-day bail to cast his vote in the elections. The plea has been filed a day after the former minister along with two of his aides was named in a charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a corruption case.
Nawab Malik was arrested by the ED in November last year in connection with charges of money laundering against him. While Deshmukh, his personal assistant Kundan Shinde and personal secretary Sanjeev Palande are lodged in Mumbai's Arthur Road jail in a money laundering case being probed by the ED.
