Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who was recently on a trip to Rae Bareli in UP visited Wayanad, the Kerala city which he represented the Parliament since 2019.
During his visit to Malappuram and Wayanad districts of Kerala, Gandhi thanked the people for electing him and also spoke on which seat he would retain as a parliamentarian.
The Congress leader won both the Rae Bareli seat and Wayanad in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the result of which was announced on June 4.
While on his way to Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi made a stop at a restaurant for lunch in Thamarassery in Kozhikode district of Kerala and posted a video of his interaction with the staff of the restaurant.
He had informal conversations with the chefs and staff of the restaurant and also posed for photographs with the staff, who looked overwhelmed at the sight of the unexpected visitor.
He said that he stopped by to have lunch at a restaurant called White House in Thamarassery on his way to Wayanad.
While posting the video from his Instagram handle, Gandhi wrote, "We often forget to say thank you to the people who quietly work behind the scenes."
"Felt like going into their kitchen and saying thank you to the Chefs, the staff, and all those who made sure we had a sumptuous meal this afternoon," he wrote.
Addressing a public meeting at Edavanna in Malappuram on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi said he was in a dilemma as to which constituency he should relinquish. He said that whatever decision he takes, both constituencies will be happy with it.
Though Gandhi kept people guessing about which seat he would retain, KPCC chief K Sudhakaran hinted that the Congress leader would relinquish the constituency in Kerala.
According to the Representation of People Act, a candidate can contest from two Lok Sabha constituencies, but can hold only one seat at a time. Rahul Gandhi has two weeks from the date of the declaration of results to vacate one of the seats.
