First time after being reinstated as an MP, Rahul Gandhi will speak in Parliament at 12 pm today, Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has told news agency ANI. Earlier, he was schedule to speak on Thursday on the same day as Prime Minister Modi. This time the Opposition is all set to step up its Manipur offensive in Parliament, which has been at the centre of proceedings this Monsoon session. As the Opposition blamed the Centre of ignoring the topic, the Government said it was ready to have a debate on the issue and hit back the the Congress saying the party was running away from discussions and stalling the Parliament session.


Rahul Gandhi will be speaking for the first time after he return to Lok Sabha once against as an MP. His reinstatement took place after the Supreme Court stayed his conviction in the Modi surname case. He was disqualified as an MP after he was convicted in the 'Modi surname' defamation case filed by a BJP leader and was sentenced to two years in prison.


This Parliament session has been witnessing an impasse over the Manipur issue. The Oppsotion moved an no-trust motion against the government on the violence in Manipur, saying this would make the Prime Minister speak on Manipur and claimed that despite them asking several times, the Prime Minister was not ready to talk about Manipur in the House and that was the reason why they had to move the no-confidence motion.


The BJP has, however, hit back at the Congress over the state of women in Rajasthan and other states.


Apart from this, Rahul Gandhi would also address his first publish meeting since the reinstatement in poll-bound Rajasthan's Banswara district.


"Gandhi will address a public meeting at Mangarh Dham in Banswara on Wednesday. A large number of people, including tribals, will take part," Rajasthan Congress general secretary Swarnim Chaturvedi said, as quoted by news agency PTI.
