New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday criticised the expunging of portions of Rahul Gandhi's speech in the Lok Sabha yesterday, in which he claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ties to businessman Gautam Adani. “With the expunging of @RahulGandhi's remarks on PM linked Adani MahaMegaScam, deMOcracy was cremated in the Lok Sabha. OM Shanti”, Congress general secretary in charge of Communications Jairam Ramesh tweeted.
On Tuesday, a combative Rahul Gandhi connected the meteoric rise of Adani's business to the 2014 election of the Modi government at the Centre. He asked PM Modi four questions: how many times he traveled abroad with Adani, how many times the business tycoon joined the PM on foreign trips, and how many times Adani visited that country immediately after the PM's trip and signed a contract.
Additionally, he inquired of the prime minister regarding the amount of money Adani provided to the BJP in electoral bonds. He asserted that Gautam Adani's meteoric rise to the second spot on the global rich list, from position 609, occurred following the BJP's election to power in 2014.

The saffron party reacted strongly to the allegations made by the Congress leader and demanded evidence to back them up.
To file a breach of motion against the Wayanad MP, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey wrote to Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla earlier in the day. The allegations against the PM, according to the BJP MP from Jharkhand's Godda, are baseless, derogatory, and unsupported by documents.
Pralhad Joshi, minister of Parliamentary Affairs, has also called for Gandhi to be punished for his "objectionable" praises in the Lok Sabha.
