Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday expressed shock over the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party's Tamil Nadu president K Armstrong and said he is confident that Chief Minister MK Stalin-led state government will ensure the culprits are brought to justice expeditiously. Taking to X, he also expressed he condolences to family, friends and followers of the BSP leader.


"Deeply shocked by the brutal and abhorrent killing of Thiru Armstrong, the Tamil Nadu Chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and followers. Tamil Nadu Congress leaders are in constant touch with the Government of Tamil Nadu, and I am confident that the Government will ensure that the culprits are brought to justice expeditiously," he posted on X (formally Twitter).






Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin also expressed his grief over the incident and said those involved in his killing have been arrested in a midnight operation. The chief minister said he was shocked and anguished over Armstrong's death. "The police have arrested those involved in his murder in an overnight operation," Stalin said in a post on 'X'.


The 52-year-old BSP leader was hacked to death by a six-member bike borne gang near his house in Perambur in Chennai on Friday.


The chief minister said he had ordered the police to conduct the investigation expeditiously and ensure that the culprits are punished according to law. "I would like to convey my deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family and friends," he said.


As per police, 52-year-old Armstrong was standing in front of his house when unknown individuals attacked him with knives and fled the spot. 


At least eight suspects have been secured in connection with the murder of the BSP state president, a senior police official said. The police have formed 10 teams to crack the case, Asra Garg, Additional Commissioner (North) told reporters late on Friday.
