The Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed in Delhi's Shadipur area on Sunday after a man was severely injured in a fight between two groups of men on the night of October 12-13. The victim died last night, news agency ANI reported.
According to police, a Bajrang Dal worker was killed and two of his friends were seriously injured after two groups clashed in Central Delhi's Ranjit Nagar on Sunday, news agency IANS reported. Following Nitesh's death, his family members staged a massive protest in Ranjit Nagar, causing a traffic jam.
A senior police official said that two groups clashed in the Shadipur area on Friday, IANS reported.
More than 200 people gathered on the main road, worsening the traffic situation. The officers persuaded the family to sit on a road corner so that traffic could be managed. Nitesh's family also alleged that he was killed as he was associated with Bajrang Dal and RSS, IANS reported.
On October 12 night, Nitesh, Alok, and Monty allegedly stopped three people on a bike for honking their horns and assaulted one of them who fell to the ground.
As the bike got disbalanced, the other two too fell on the ground and a scuffle ensued between the two groups, a senior police officer said, PTI reported.
The police has dismissed the claims of communal angle in the matter, and said that it was a fight between two groups.
A call was made at Ranjit Nagar Police Station to report a brawl near Chawla Bakery, Mandir wali gali, but when police went to the spot, they found no one there.
"Since there was no statement by anyone, a case was registered under section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code on DD entry at Ranjit Nagar Police Station and an investigation was taken up:" Shweta Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
The official said that Nitesh, Alok and Monty were in one group while three other young men were on another side.
A police team was formed and an investigation was taken up, she added further.
Police have access to the incident's CCTV footage.
"With the help of CCTV footage, police identified the assailants as Adnan, Ujefa, and Abbas, all residents of Ranjit Nagar, and now on the run," the police official added.
Nitesh and Alok, according to the police, have criminal complaints filed against them.
