Key Points of PM Modi's speech in Siddharthnagar

  • PM Modi informed that the initiative will provide better health facilities for the locals and will also generate jobs. PM Modi said, "By opening these new 9 medical colleges over 2500 new beds are added, over 5000 employment opportunities will be generated. Earlier govt has left people of 'Purvanchal' to suffer from diseases but now it will become a medical hub of Northern India."

  • Taking a jibe at the opposition, PM Modi said that earlier, Purvanchal's image was ruined by previous govts. PM said that it was defamed because of 'dimagi' fever... The same region will now infuse new hopes... people of UP can't forget how Yogi ji had highlighted about UPs poor medical system in Parliament, despite not being a CM.

  • Hitting out at the opposition PM Modi further said, "Has it ever happened before that 9 colleges were inaugurated?... Its reason is political priorities... Previous governments were only filling their family lockers and earning for themselves. But our priority is to save the poor's money and provide them facilities."

  • The Prime Minister further said that for years and years, either the buildings were not constructed or the machines were not available, if both were done, there would be no doctors and other staff. The cycle of corruption, which looted thousands of crores of rupees from the poor, used to run round the clock separately by the previous governments which stopped with CM Yogi's arrival.

  • PM Modi further said that in Uttar Pradesh there were only 1900 medical seats in government medical colleges till 2017. Whereas in the last four years during the team of double engine government, more than 1900 seats in medical seats have been increased.

PM Modi was also accompanied by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya who also addressed the event and said, "Opening 9 medical colleges in a day is no small thing. These medical colleges will benefit both present, future generations. Under PM Modi, medical education governance has improved... GoI has opened 157 medical colleges in the country."

Later, at around 1.15 pm the Prime Minister will launch Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojana in Varanasi. PM Modi will also inaugurate various development projects worth more than 5,200 crore for Varanasi.
